Venice
Hotel in/near San Marco
(St. Mark’s Square)
Considered to be the most crowded and expensive part of Venice. It is the
cultural and commercial center of Venice, and Piazza San Marco with the
Basilica San Marco is its heart. Nothing but tourists in heavy foot traffic
area and lots of noise.
SERENISSIMA - Calle Carlo Goldoni 4486.

(37 rms., all w/toilet & bath or shower.) 100€ single; 175€
double; 225€ triple; 250€ quad. Breakfast (7-10am) is included
in the rates. Air-conditioned. Visa, MC, AX. This is our favorite hotel
in Venice because of the staff, the ambience, the rooms and especially
because the location (5-min. walk from St. Mark's square). English spoken,
phones, cable TV w/CNN, fabulous wonderful charming hotel w/beautifully
& identically contemporary Venetian-style furnished modern nice-size
rms. w/newly renovated bathrooms, rooms are equipped w/Internet connection,
original wooden flrs., hairdriers, bar, fabulous quiet location about
a 5-min. walk to St. Mark's square and the Rialto bridge, no elevator,
4 flrs. Owned/managed by wonderful, charming & attentive Roberto DalBorgo.
Salvatore is also quite charming. The hotel is regularly visited by famous
artists. The young blond woman in the fabulous paintings on the wall is
Roberto's mother. You may recognize her as the hard-working elderly woman
who serves you your breakfast. If you are an artist, ask to see Roberto's
treasured book of artwork sketched by various artists from all over the
world. Roberto is in the middle of renovating a small hotel next door
to Hotel Serenissima. It should be completed by 2006. Vaporetto: Rialto.
(I prefer the #1 line which puts you closer to where you have to walk.)

through Campo San Luca bearing left onto Calle Carlo Goldoni. (Closed
