the French Government Tourist Office August 10, 1998 Dear Ms. Classé I’ve already used your book to plan my recent trip to Paris, and found it to be a great help. I found a very acceptable hotel (Hotel Progrès) that was fairly comfortable, was in a great location (near the Latin Quarter), was clean & offered breakfast and friednly service—all for only $30 a night. And that was during the World Cup! So, I’ve been recommending your book to everyone. Good luck with it.
Suzanne Mendelsohn In Nice, I spent 5 nights at the Hotel Eden. It was beautiful…breakfast was great…and I had a clear view of the sea from my princess balcony. I got so much for so little $. (I was in room 8) On to Paris…where I stayed at the Hotel Dragon. It was lovely! On a quiet street in the heart of the left bank, we had a luxurious, huge brand new bathroom and a large room with lots of closet space & cute furniture. The staff at both hotels was helpful, although not much English was spoken in Paris. Your descriptions were perfect & I will recommend your books wholeheartedly. I hope to go to Italy next summer & plan to purchase your book. Maryellen and Gil Federico We are very excited but also a little apprehensive as will be traveling totally independent of any formal tours. I have really been using your book a lot to help us with all our reservations and have had great success in finding places with your information. We are happy to be saving money as most everything has been under $100 per night. I am sure we will discover the real Italy in these smaller hotels and
bed & breakfast places, meeting the local people. Many thanks again and
we will let you know how our trip went when we return in October. What
a wonderful time you must have enjoying not only the travel but the people...
GRAZIE Maryellen Federico (letter #2) This is where we will be staying: The people at the hotels have been very polite, and responsive to e-mails and faxes, etc. some even gave very detailed instructions on directions and advice on whether to take a taxi or walk and how to get reservations to museums, etc. I did have to send travel checks once and a personal check once. The others all took credit cards for deposits. We also have a week time share in San Vencenzo on the coast of Tuscany to explore the hill towns. Although during our day trips venturing out will probably be using your book again to perhaps stay overnite a place or two also. I have recommended your book to a lot of people. We purchased it through Amazon. com. I don't think I have seen it in any of the big book stores here like Barnes and Noble, Borders, or Bookstar (Phoneix area) etc. but perhaps they were out. I know a lot of my friends are always looking for these type of places in Europe. Most of the travel books (other than Rick Steves) do not have the excellent type of information that you do and his are not nearly as extensive. Well, take care and hope to hear from you again. You have been very
helpful! I used to be a travel agent and I guess it is in me to love to
research, almost as much as the travel. Thank you again. Teresa A. Jones - I recently returned from a trip to Italy. I like being able to go with
the flow. Classé read my mind in answering questions I wanted to ask."
Mary Redmond As a woman traveling alone, I was concerned about security as well as economy. I found your comments about the neighborhoods "right on the money." I never was disappointed in any of the hotels where I stayed. Congratulations on a job well done. Lynn Matthews AFter arriving at the Plaza de Colon from the airport, we took a taxi to the Hotel Mora to find out they were sold out (it was early in the day too). Two of us immediately set out to find someplace else nearby; I had already reviewed your chapter on Madrid and highlighted a couple of places near the Mora in the event (I thought unlikely) that the Mora would not have rooms. We headed to Cervantes 34 and our second stop there (following your recommendations) was the Hostal Cervantes. Jorge was very helpful. We waited until he had two rooms cleaned for us to inspect. I really would have referred somewhere a little nicer, but it was more than satisfactory. My wife was happy with the room. The hotel is in a great location given our plans (Prado, trains, old city walks) It was one of those places where the advantages become more apparent the longer you stay there. Thanks again for your help. My daughter is planning a trip to Europe in '01 after graduation from college. I will buy your book for her to plan her hotel stops. It was really great of you to send it to me. I saw your posting on the travel board this AM, and having worked on the journal last night reminded me that I had not yet thanked you. Thanks for the great work Margo. Lynn Matthews Chris Walsh We were particularly impressed with the Hotel Gonzalez in Cordoba and the Hotel Dulcinea in Madrid. Elena of the Hotel Gonzalez was very helpful when we left our coats at her hotel after we had departed for Sevilla. When we realized our mistake, we called from Sevilla, and Elena arranged to have the coats delivered that same day to Sevilla. The Hotel Duclinea was very clean and comfortable, particularly when considering the low price of their rooms. The manager of the Hotel Dulcinea was also kind enough to store some souvenirs at the hotel until we returned a week later. Chris Walsh Brian Voge Brian Voge Gloria Your book arrived today. I got home from work and had to sit down and read it. Very nicely done. I will get a lot of use from it and have already recommend it to a few friends. Keep in touch. Let me know of any new books you are planning. The next time I go to Spain, you know which book I'll be buying. Thanks again and good luck with sales on the net. Gloria , Ciao!
